The Adventure Frame is the newest of the seven cabins at Index Cabins, and the one where, as Nick Pietsch puts it, he crammed in all the elements he likes about the others.

Its signature is a wall. Nick found rock paneling in four-by-nine sheets, made to look like the wall of a cave, and used it across the whole living room, behind the fireplace and a 75-inch screen.

The cabin stands apart from the six lower cabins on the property, with a 225-foot zipline and a quad track in the forest beside it. Sunset named Index Cabins a winner in its 2026 Travel Awards.

The Space

The living room is organized around the rock wall. Rather than a feature panel, the paneling covers the whole TV and living area, with the fireplace and the screen set against it.

The kitchen is black and sharply defined, and a steel staircase leads to the upper floor.

Play is built into the cabin itself. An indoor climbing wall and a movie room give a group somewhere to go when the weather keeps them inside.

Practical: sleeps six, with three beds and two baths, a fireplace, a 75-inch TV, a movie room and an indoor climbing wall. The property's sauna, cold plunge and yoga deck are on the same gated six-acre riverfront grounds, and zipline and quad track rides are booked separately.

Who It's For

Groups of six who want one cabin with something for everyone. A climbing wall and a movie room inside, a zipline and quad track outside.

Families who need a plan for wet days. The climbing wall and movie room keep a stay going when it rains in the Cascades.

Guests who already know the other cabins. This is the one where Nick brought their ideas together.

Why Locèlle Loves It

  • A wall of stone that is not stone. Rock paneling in four-by-nine sheets turns the living room into something close to a cave wall.
  • The sum of the others. Built last, it gathers the elements Nick likes from every cabin before it.
  • Play under the same roof. An indoor climbing wall and a movie room, so the building itself is part of the fun.
  • Built by the person who imagined it. Each new cabin began as Nick Pietsch's idea, and he does much of the work himself, bringing in subcontractors for framing and drywall.
  • Next to the zipline. The 225-foot zipline and the quad track beneath it run right by the cabin.
  • Book Direct. Locèlle introduces you directly to the hosts, so you can book with them without added platform fees.

Meet Your Hosts

Nick Pietsch

Nick Pietsch created, owns and runs Index Cabins. A geologist by training, he and his wife bought two run-down buildings in Index in 2010 as a family place for skiing and summers on the river, and in 2017 he left medical device sales to run the cabins full time. Each new cabin began as his idea, and he does much of the building himself. He still drives up a couple of times a week. Part of every stay goes to conservation, trail and local history groups, among them the Sierra Club, the Washington Trails Association and the Index Historical Society.

Why Book This House

The cabin that holds the rest

Built last, The Adventure Frame is where Nick Pietsch put everything he likes about the cabins before it: a wall of rock paneling, play built into the rooms and a zipline across the forest field beside it. Around it is the land Nick is happiest with: the grass field, the riverside sauna and a forest left untouched.
