The Reflecting House with container pool
Nestled among the bare-limbed forests of Sullivan County, this architectural retreat rises with quiet confidence from the landscape — a dark, two-story form that earns its place not by imposing, but by listening. Step onto the deck and the full picture comes into view: a container pool set flush into the timber planks, still and perfectly placed against the Catskill woodland. The entire home is yours.
About the Space
Dark board-and-batten cladding, floor-to-ceiling glass, and cathedral ceilings set the tone from the moment you arrive. Inside, the open-plan kitchen anchors the ground floor — midnight-blue cabinetry, walnut countertops, and open shelving dressed with considered ceramics. The wood-burning stove, set against deep forest-green tile, is the heart of the house in winter. The bedroom is a brass four-poster facing the forest, with direct sliding-glass access to the deck and pool.
The Outdoor Experience
A container pool set flush into the timber deck, a fire pit, sun loungers facing the treeline, and an upper terrace for dining beneath the open sky. This is a home designed for the full progression of a day — morning light, long afternoons by the water, a fire after dark.
Why Locèlle Loves It
Designed with intention, offered with honesty. The container pool, the stove, the four-poster — nothing feels performative. Everything has earned its place.
A Home That Earns Its Place
From the forest-facing bedroom to the deck-level pool, every detail of this Callicoon retreat feels inevitable — nothing overdone, nothing overlooked.
