The Haven A-Frame
Tucked into the mountains above Sky Valley, The Haven is a completely reimagined 1970s A-frame where original character meets thoughtful modern comfort. Set at 3,800 feet and surrounded by forest, it’s a place for slow mornings on the deck, long afternoons on the trail, and evenings gathered around the fire — with a little retro charm woven into every room.
The story of the space
When two families discovered The Haven in December 2023, it was little more than a neglected shell. Over the next year, they set out to restore it, preserving the elements that gave the house its soul — the original beams and ceiling, concrete basement walls, and character-filled flagstone floors — while completely reworking the interiors for modern mountain living.
The result is warm, playful, and distinctly A-frame: cabin-inspired board-and-batten, tongue-and-groove ceilings, vintage touches, and a brand-new kitchen and spa-like baths. Three levels give everyone room to spread out, from the main-floor living spaces to the loft hangout and lower-level bedrooms.
Why Locèlle loves it
- A 1970s original, thoughtfully restored. The Haven keeps the bones and character of its A-frame past while giving them a beautifully considered second life.
- Mountain living with a design point of view. Warm woods, flagstone floors, retro details, and elevated finishes make this feel like a true home rather than a typical cabin rental.
- A place to gather — or disappear. There’s room for eight, with three bedrooms, a bunk area, a lofted living space, and plenty of cozy corners for reading, lingering, and reconnecting.
- The spa moment. A deep soaking tub turns the end of a long hiking day into its own ritual, while the fire offers another reason to stay in.
- The mountains are the backdrop. At 3,800 feet, The Haven sits above Sky Valley with seasonal mountain and sunset views, hiking, waterfalls, golf, and the shops and restaurants of Highlands all within easy reach.
- Book direct with the owners. Skip the third-party booking fees and connect directly with the people behind The Haven for a more personal stay from the very beginning.
Who it’s for
The Haven is for those who love a house with a little history and a lot of personality — the kind of place where the architecture sets the mood, the mountains slow you down, and a weekend away starts to feel like a life you could happily live for a while.
Restored with love by Mike, Robin, Jill, and Marc.
