The Carpenter's Cabin
A design-forward cabin built for gathering
Step inside Carpenter’s Cabin, the original retreat at EcoLuxe in Hocking Hills, Ohio. Created by Jami and Scott Jenkins for their own family, this distinctive multi-level cabin combines thoughtful architecture, sustainable materials, and a deep connection to the surrounding woods.
Set on 32 wooded acres, Carpenter’s Cabin accommodates up to 12 guests and offers a different take on the traditional Hocking Hills getaway: contemporary, warm, highly considered, and designed around the way families actually live.
The story of the space
Carpenter’s Cabin was the beginning of Jami and Scott’s EcoLuxe story.
Named for Jami’s father, who was a carpenter, the cabin became the first expression of a dream to create a place where their children, grandchildren, and extended family could gather.
The family helped bring it to life. Scott installed the hardwood floors, their son built the steel staircase and rails, and multiple generations contributed along the way.
Inside, four levels create a surprisingly expansive experience, with a central conversation pit, library loft, children’s perch, multiple decks, and a screened-in outdoor space. Reading chairs, bedside sconces, children’s amenities, and carefully selected sustainable, low-toxin materials make the cabin feel both thoughtfully designed and genuinely welcoming.
The result is a place where architecture, nature, and family life come together.
Why Locèlle loves it
- Built for gathering. Up to 12 guests, with a real bed for everyone and plenty of spaces to come together or spread out.
- Architecture with a sense of discovery. Four levels, a conversation pit, library loft, children’s perch, and multiple decks make the cabin feel larger than its footprint.
- Designed by the family, for the family. Multiple generations helped bring the cabin to life, giving it a story you can feel throughout the space.
- Thoughtful down to the details. Sustainable materials, comfortable reading spaces, and family-friendly touches make it feel personal rather than overly polished.
- Recognized beyond Hocking Hills. Carpenter’s Cabin has been featured in Midwest Living, Voyage Columbus, White Paper By, SHLTR, Book of Cabins, Columbus Underground, and Houzz, as well as coverage from Sponstayneous, Levi Kelly, Mike Will Travel, and Magnolia Network’s The Cabin Chronicles.
- Book Direct. Locèlle introduces you directly to Jami and Scott, so you can book with the owners without added platform fees.
